Born on March 29th, Melissa Bay Mathis studied art at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. She has won many awards, including the 1999 Kids in Nature’s Defense award from the National Association of Humane and Environmental Education for Earthsong, an adaptation of the song by Sally Rogers. She teaches children’s book writing and illustration at the California College of Arts and Crafts, and builds movie theaters for her rabbits.
