Happy Birthday! Marsha Wilson Chall was born on November 7th in Minnesota. Ms. Chall graduated from Drake University with degrees in English literature and special education and received her master's degree from the University of Minnesota in educational psychology.
She has written six picture books, including the bestselling Up North at the Cabin, illustrated by Steve Johnson. Her newest book is Prairie Train, the story of a young girl in the 1930s who travels by herself on a train through the wintery landscape toward Saint Paul, Minnesota. Ms. Chall's book Sugarbush Spring was honored with the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation Award for Children's Literature in 2002.
Ms. Chall is an assistant professor at Hamline University as well as many workshops throughout the country. She is a member of CLN's Executive Committee. Ms. Chall, her husband, and her four children live in Minneapolis.
