Ice Cream for Books (ICFB) is a successful event that is held at dozens of schools every year! If YOUR school is looking for an easy and fun way to promote literacy and family involvement, ICFB is the answer! Each year several deserving schools in Minnesota are chosen to receive enough FREE books and FREE ice cream to hold 2 ICFB events during the school year! Schools with at least 40% free/reduced lunch status are encouraged to apply for funding. Please contact Maurna for a grant application. Ice Cream for Books is a 501(c) non-profit corporation. ALL donations are tax-deductible. ICFB takes place at elementary schools for students and their families who are invited to participate in activities that celebrate books and reading. The event is free to those who attend and features the following: • Ice Cream & Punch Approximately 350 books are given away at each ICFB event. Grants for Ice Cream for Books Events are Available Schools that have been and will continue to be chosen to receive materials and funding for ICFB show an economic need, with a free and reduced lunch percentage of at least 40% or higher. Schools receive materials for publicizing ICFB events, as well as handouts, activity sheets, books and labels acknowledging contributors, and a gift card to purchase ice cream. Schools are expected to document ICFB events by providing artifacts that advertise the event, pictures from the event, and letters of support or testaments from staff, parents and/or students. If you are interested in applying for an ICFB grant or if you are interested in making a tax-deductable donation, please contact ICFB founder, Maurna Rome. |
