The Remarkable & Very True Story
of Lucy & Snowcap

Marshall Cavendish, 2008
ages 10 and up, ISBN 978-0761454410

In 1775, three shiploads of English convicts (about to be sold into indentured servitude in the American colonies) shipwreck on the islands of Tathenland. Twelve years later, as the book opens, Tathenland is unraveling in civil war, and two girls from different cultures—one a native islander, one a daughter of English convicts—set out on journeys to try to save themselves and their people. After surviving poisoning, kidnapping, evil guardians, wild animals, and curses—and encountering magic of all kinds and some unexpected help along the way—Lucy and Snowcap come to understand that although they can't change their history, they do possess the power to transform themselves.
