Author Tracy Nelson Maurer enjoys visits to schools and community groups. And audiences enjoy meeting her, too! Children and adults like to hear her “stories behind the story” and participate in her interactive presentation format—learning a little bit about research, word choice, sentences, and other fun stuff along the way.

Tracy provides loads of examples during her presentations and gives the audience real-world insights to the writing process. Every session concludes with an opportunity to ask questions. Fees are set according to each program format, such as a single 30-minute reading, multiple 45-minute presentations throughout the day, or daylong writing workshop.

“Before It’s A Book” is one of the most popular presentations she offers, but every visit is adapted to the grade level or age group and curriculum content to ensure that the presentation is immediately relevant and applicable. More options are available on her website.

In addition to school visits, Tracy has been a featured speaker or panelist at various conferences such as the Minnesota’s Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Leadership Seminar, Deep Valley Book Festival, Ironworld Discovery Center summer program, Lake Superior Maritime Museum “Gales of November” event, and other regional venues. Tracy has also appeared on KARE-11’s morning talk show and the “Venture North” public-television program.
