A science fiction novelist, Pamela Sargent was born on March 20th. She is perhaps best-known for her feminist anthologies, Women of Wonder, but she has also written countless novels and short stories. Ms. Sargent sold her first story during her senior year at the State University of New York. There, she earned a BA and MA in philosophy, studying ancient history and Greek as well. She wrote Earthseed (1983), which was chosen as a Best Book for Young Adults by the American Library Association.
