Derek Anderson was born in Iowa on March 21st He graduated from Iowa State University, where he majored in drawing and painting. His mother, a third-grade teacher, was responsible for his awareness of children's picture books.
His first picture book, Little Quack, hit the New York Times Bestseller List and resulted in a Publishers Weekly article mention as one of their periodic "Flying Starts." Since then there have been three more Little Quack books with author Lauren Thompson. Recently, Derek has also authored two books that he has illustrated, Gladys Goes Out to Lunch and Blue Burt and Wiggles.
Derek lives and works in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he lives with his wife. If you ask very nicely, Derek even does a bit of magic, one of his many talents.
