Graham Salisbury was born on April 11th. Born in Philadelphia, he spent his childhood on the islands of Oahu and Hawaii, where he and his mother traveled because his father was a navy pilot. He graduated from California State University at Northridge and later received an MFA degree from Vermont College. Now he teaches in the Vermont College Writing for Children MFA program. Also a musician, his rock-and-roll band, The Millennium, had a Number One Hit in the Philippines. Mr. Salisbury currently lives in Portland, Oregon.

Among his novels are Lord of the Deep, which received the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award in 2002 and Under the Blood Red Sun, which won the Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction, Eyes of the Emporer in 2005, and the 2006 publication of the second book in the Blood Red Sun trilogy called House of the Red Fish.
