Happy Birthday on April 17th to author and illustrator Rick Chrustowski. Known for his luminous use of colored pencils and his astute observations of nature, Rick is the author and illustrator of titles such as Hop Frog, Bright Beetle, and his newest Turtle Crossing. Although he grew up in the Midwest, Rick now lives in western Wisconsin where the flora and fauna are right outside the door of his farmhouse.

Rick was chosen to create the artwork for use with the Minnesota Library Association's Summer Reading Program, "What's Buzzin' at Your Library?" This year, the program will be used in Massachusetts. Look for his posters, bookmarks, tee-shirts, and more throughout the summer at your favorite public library.

He's currently at work on his next book and busy visiting schools everywhere to spread the message about the importance of the natural world.
