"I had already written about forty books by the time Amazing Grace was published in 1991, but it is fair to say that it was Grace who changed my life. I roughed out the story sitting in a health club in London, wearing a towel. I was far away from the doorbell's ring or the phone," says Mary Hoffman.

Mary Hoffman was born in Eastleigh, Hampshire, Great Britain on April 20th. Ms. Hoffman and her husband live in London. They have three daughters.

Mary Hoffman has written over 70 books for children. The best-known of her books is Amazing Grace while others are the Banana Books, Beware, Princess!, Dracula's Daughter, Mermaid, Chips, The Four-legged Ghosts and its sequels A Vanishing Tail and Quantum Squeak, Cyril M.C. Nancy No-Size and Henry's Baby.

Mary's most recent works are A First Bible Storybook, An Angel Just Like Me, and a brand-new Christmas legend, Three Wise Women.
