On May 12th, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, John and Winifred Reilly became the proud parents to Betsy Reilly Lewin. Betsy studied art at the Pratt Institute of Art and there received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Mooo, moo, moo was all the talk around Betsy's house while she worked on Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. This was her first Caldecott Honor book in 2000. Several other successful books in partnership with author Doreen Cronin have followed. Betsy's other books include Giggle, Giggle, Quack; Itchy, Itchy Chicken Pox; and Gorilla Walk, which was her first collaboration with her husband, Ted Lewin. Most recently, she's illustrated the Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa books for author Erica Silverman.
She and her husband live in Brooklyn, New York. Her husband, Ted Lewin, is also an author and illustrator. Ms. Lewin has illustrated her own stories as well as stories for other authors. She has received many awards including, Smithsonian Notable Books '99 for Gorilla Walk and Children’s Choices for A Thousand Cousins. Some of her work is in the Kerlan Collection at the University of Minnesota.
