David and the Phoenix Edward Ormondroyd

Edward Ormondroyd was born on October 8th, and grew up in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. After serving on board a destroyer escort that participated in the invasions of Okinawa and Iwo Jima in WWII, Edward entered the University of California at Berkeley where he received a bachelor's degree in English and later a master's degree in library science. This librarian, war veteran, father of seven wrote many books for children and young adults including Johnny Castleseed, All in Good Time, and Time at the Top. Generations of readers have enjoyed David and the Phoenix, the story of a boy who finds and strikes up a friendship with a Phoenix who takes him on adventures where he meets many mythological creatures. First published in 1957, this book is back by popular demand, reprinted by Purple House Press in 2000. Mr. Ormondroyd's books span myth, fantasy, imagination, and time. Besides writing, Edward also enjoys studying piano, gardening, birds, flowers, and listening to classical music. He lives with his wife Joan in upstate New York in a house designed and partially built by Edward.
