ARTIST'S STATEMENT There is a plaque in my office that reads " A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove ... but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." That about sums it up. Whenever I see a child (of any age) in my journey through life, I am drawn to them and want to play, to talk, to share stories. Since immigrating to Norway that also now means helping teachers and students (again of all ages) get excited about language learning, and all the doors a mastery of English can open. |

| BIOGRAPHY I have lived my working life as a creative writer artist. Through work as a history player and interpreter at the Minnesota History Center, as well as co-owner of the theater company Epoch Productions, I learned to love the stories that weave their way through history. Growing up in Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea, Iowa, and California, I learned that every culture is unique and everyone has their own story to tell. For eleven years I co-owned an interactive storytelling (and puppet) company with my sister, called the Silly Sisters, and over time we learned the art of working together and trusting the power of our imaginations. When I immigrated to Norway in 2007, I found myself opening new doors as a teacher of English to speakers of Norwegian, and I am still learning what that means. |
