How to Effectively Publicize Your Book (Even if Oprah Doesn't Call)
If you're an author or illustrator with a book coming out in the next 18 months, this workshop is for you. On Saturday, March 13, 2010, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Lisa Bullard will work with eight (8) people in an intensive workshop.
Many authors find that their dreams of being on Oprah are soon crushed. But that doesn't mean that you have to give up on publicizing your book completely! This informative workshop will explain:
- the basics of book publicity
- what you can do to effectively publicize your book on your own
- how you can best help your publisher's publicist
- the situations that call for hiring an outside publicist
- how to write an effective press release
- the realities of working with the media
- where and how to stage an effective author event
- other creative publicity-related ideas!
Workshop presenter Lisa Bullard brings a unique outlook to this session, combining her experience as the award-winning author of over forty children's books with sixteen years spent working as a marketing professional for a variety of publishers.
Please note: the ideal timing for participants is that you take this workshop when your book is going to be published within the next couple of years. You may also find many useful tips if your book is already published. We will not be discussing how to market your manuscript to a publisher nor will we be able to focus on self-published books.
Lunch will be provided, but it will be a working lunch. Cost is $160.
If you'd rather pay by check, send us an e-mail and we'll tell you how.
Open to all CLN members. Workshop takes place at CLN Headquarters, Maple Grove, MN. Directions will be provided after you sign up for the workshop. Space is limited to eight participants, so register early.
Available Across the USA
This workshop, as well as "The Writer's Business Toolkit," "Promotion Without Tears," and "Web 2.0" are available to CLN members throughout the country. If eight people in your area are ready to attend, we'll bring the workshop to you, making arrangements for the facility, food, and everything else. Just send us an e-mail with the names of the eight people who wish to participate and we'll take it from there. Plans for the workshop must be made at least two to three months ahead of the workshop date. |
